At the Healey School, we have worked on a number of schoolwide communication tools that can go together in a toolkit of free/low cost tools for schoolwide communication:

the googledoc for stuff all parents should know about; the dashboard; the coffee hour; the listserv; school wiki for updating notes on school improvement; the hotline; the computers in the parent room and techies from the community to train.
